[Letter, 1887?] Jul., 259 Hackberry St., East Walnut Hills, Cincinnati, [Ohio, to] Mr. Stedman / Alice Wms. Brotherton.

Brotherton enclosed this letter when she sent E.C. Stedman her book of verse (The sailing of King Olaf) "in token of [her] gratitude for [his] kind words of last summer." She mentions that her portrait in the book is the work of her sister, Minna Williams, and claims that it is "the first line and stipple engraving done by a woman in America, and possibly in Europe." Stedman's copy of The sailing of King Olaf, inscribed by Brotherton, is in the Mortimer Rare Book Room.
